This is a cosplay that started out as a joke with my friends. We had been joking for ages that someone should cosplay Sky High because he is such a dork and his costume design is hilariously silly. Then after last year's Desucon Nessu
and I were returning home from the con and were laughing at Sky High's and Origami's hero suits once again. We were probably pretty tired (and high on broccoli) and so the idea of actually
cosplaying these guys was born. About 8 months later we found ourselves in the dressing room of the con building, putting these costumes on while cursing and laughing. We tried to keep these as a surprise so that's why I didn't tell my cosplay plans in advance (even though our friends pretty much guessed it right :-------D).
This is hands-down the most complicated costume I've made so far so I have to be proud of it even if there are a dozen things I want to fix or entirely remake. It's also still a bit unfinished because despite going a couple of weeks with only 5 hours of sleep per night and using all of my free-time on this (not very wise, I know)
, I wasn't able to finish all the details in time. So I was continuously cursing and fixing the costume with duct tape at the con. :----)) The shuriken on my back was especially uncomfortable as it kept sliding down and strangling me all the time. So yes, this costume needs some fixing and then a proper photoshoot because I don't have many pictures of it. Despite all the pain, it was really fun to make the costume and then wear it! The best part was to make the helmet and other armour parts - it was my first time using Wonderflex so I'm glad with how they turned out. It was actually surprisingly easy and surprisingly expensive, ouch
What made the experience even better was that I got invited to the Hall Cosplay competition. o/ I was pretty hesitant about it because I was sure my costume would just explode
on the stage but my friends persuaded me and I then found myself in the backstage. It was a good thing that I was so tired because otherwise I'd have been very nervous. I also ended up being really awkward on the stage (I couldn't see because of the bright lights so walking was difficult and the helmet made it difficult to speak clearly or hear what other people said. OTL sorry about that)
. :''D And I don't even know how it happened but I got the first place and I couldn't believe it. OAO Whoa, I mean, thank you (and thank you again)!tl;dr
this cosplay was a joke-gone-too-far and a pain to wear but totally worth it all !Origami Cyclone: ~hanskinuskij
